Southeast Missouri State freshman pitcher Keaira Schilling threw a four-hit shutout as the Redhawks completed play in the Mardi Gras Classic in Monroe, La., with a 2-0 victory over Grambling State on Sunday.

Schilling struck out 11 batters and walked five in collecting her first win at Southeast and evening her record at 1-1.

The Redhawks concluded the season-opening tournament with a 3-2 record.

Center fielder Alexis Anderson provided all the offense Schilling needed with a leadoff home run in the first inning.

Southeast added an insurance run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Leah Duncan that scored Chelsea Smith, who had opened the inning with an infield single. Smith advanced to third on a bunt and an error.

Smith had two of Southeast's six hits.

Angela Perez took the loss in the circle for Grambling State, which fell to 0-4.

Southeast returns to action Saturday, when it faces Lipscomb and Loyola-Chicago at the Blues City Classic in Memphis, Tenn.
