Former Southeast Missouri State baseball players Shae Simmons and Trenton Moses now officially are professional baseball players.
Simmons and Moses signed with the Atlanta Braves late Thursday night, a day after they were drafted.
Simmons, a pitcher and Scott City High School graduate, was selected in the 22nd round.
Moses, a two-time All-American third baseman and a graduate of Advance High School, was chosen in the 26th round.
The two will be teammates again when they head to Danville, Va., for their first assignment. The Danville Braves are an Advanced Rookie-level team in the Appalachian League.
Simmons and Moses first were sent to Orlando, Fla., for a minicamp before they join their new club in Danville at the end of next week.
The Danville Braves open their season June 19 to 21 with a three-game home series against the Elizabethton Twins.
