Southeast Missouri State baseball team to hold tryouts

The Southeast Missouri State baseball program will hold its annual open tryout at 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at Capaha Field.

Those who wish to participate must be full-time students, registered through the NCAA Clearinghouse and have a current physical on record.

Track teams honored

The Southeast men's and women's track and field teams both have been named 2011 Division I All-Academic by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Southeast's men compiled a 3.12 cumulative grade point average for the 2010-11 academic year while the women had a 3.16 GPA. Teams needed a 3.00 or higher to be honored.

Eight Ohio Valley Conference squads (three men's and five women's) were recognized. Nationally, 90 men's teams and 164 women's squads earned the honor.
