The Southeast Missouri State baseball team will try to bounce back from Sunday's tough loss when the Redhawks welcome Arkansas State to Capaha Field today.
Southeast and the Red Wolves will square off in a 5 p.m. first pitch to begin a four-game homestand for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks fell to 11-26 overall and 3-9 in Ohio Valley Conference play with Sunday's 16-14 defeat at Morehead State.
Southeast led 6-0 after two innings and rallied to go ahead 12-11 after seven innings before the Eagles put together the contest's final rally.
The Redhawks, who are last in the 10-team OVC, have lost all four of their conference series.
ASU is 21-16 overall and 10-5 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Red Wolves are second in the 10-team league.
Southeast and ASU already played the first leg of their annual home-and-home series. The Red Wolves won 10-5 on March 27 in Jonesboro, Ark. The Redhawks claimed both meetings against ASU last year.
Three Southeast players will look to continue impressive streaks today.
Senior shortstop Kenton Parmley is riding a school and OVC record 44-game hitting streak that is the fifth-longest in NCAA Division I history. A hit today will tie him for the fourth-longest streak. He also has reached base safely in 53 consecutive games.
All-American senior third baseman Trenton Moses has reached base safely in a school record 57 straight games. Neither the OVC nor NCAA keeps records for that category.
Sophomore left fielder Derek Gibson is carrying a 21-game hitting streak.
Today also could mark a milestone for Southeast coach Mark Hogan, who is one win short of 900 during a 31-year career that has spanned Division I Southeast, Division II West Alabama and Wallace Junior College.
Hogan, Southeast's winningest baseball coach, is 514-446-1 in his 18th season with the Redhawks. He is 899-703-3 overall.
Following today's contest, Southeast returns to OVC action Friday with the start of a three-game home series against Tennessee Tech.
