The Southeast Missouri State baseball team saw its six-run lead steadily erased by Saint Louis University on Tuesday night but pulled off a 9-7 victory at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis to put together its first three-game winning streak of the season and improve to .500 at 7-7.

After the Billikens went up 1-0 on a home run by catcher Jake Henson in the second inning, Southeast countered with a seven-run third inning.

The Redhawks, who recorded 12 hits in the game, had five in the third inning. Shortstop Branden Boggetto doubled, advanced to third on a base hit, and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie it.

Second baseman Jason Blum was hit by a pitch before designated hitter Garrett Gandolfo hit a three-run shot to right field to put Southeast up 4-1.

Catcher Cole Ferguson and Boggetto each hit two-out RBI doubles to make it 7-1 after three innings.

SLU's Henson hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning off starter Garret Stockton, who exited the game after 3 1/3 innings and allowing three earned runs on two hits with a strikeout.

Ryan Lenaburg relieved him and gave up a solo shot to the first batter he faced to cut it to 7-4 going to the fifth.

The Billikens added a run in the sixth and tied it up at 7-all with a couple more in the bottom of the sixth.

Left fielder Trevor Ezell drew a leadoff walk to start the eighth, was bunted to second and reached third on a fly out.

First baseman Ryan Rippee was then intentionally walked and moved to second on a fielder's indifference.

A wild pitch scored Ezell and Rippee scored on a single by right fielder Dalton Hewitt for the final score.

Redshirt freshman Matthew Wade retired SLU in order, including a pair of strikeouts, in the bottom of the ninth to record his first save.

Alex Siddle, who inherited runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the sixth, was credited with the win. He pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and did not allow a run. He gave up two hits and struck out four batters.

SLU dropped to 8-7, and Robert Plohr was tabbed with the loss. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed both runs in the eighth. He walked six batters.

The Redhawks face Morehead State in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series starting at 2 p.m. Friday in Morehead, Kentucky.
