Southeast Missouri State University's golf team placed seventh Tuesday in the St. Louis Billiken Invitational.
The Indians finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 902 after rounds of 300, 300 and 302.
Southern Illinois won the 15-team tournament with 883, followed by Missouri-Kansas City (885), Marquette (887), IUPUI (889), Eastern Illinois (890), Lindendwood (894) and Southeast.
Southeast's top finisher was Matt Hillis, who tied for fifth at 7-over-par 220 following rounds of 73, 73 and 74. Jimmy Blose tied for eighth at 8-over 221 (72, 73, 76).
Also for the Indians, Kent Phillips tied for 37th (229), Woody Hill tied for 61st (234) and Brian Sheehan tied for 65th (237).
Evan Frederick of host St. Louis won the individual title at 2-over 215.
Tennis team defeats Tenn. State forOVC win
Southeast's tennis team defeated visiting Tennessee State 6-1 Monday, giving the Otahkians (3-8, 2-4) two Ohio Valley Conference victories for the first time since 1998.
The Otahkians won all but one match. Daniela Garcia, Kay Ehlke, Christina Garcia, Amanda Walker and Julie Jarrell posted singles victories while the doubles teams of D. Garcia-Andrea Aldana, Ehlke-C. Garcia and Walker-Jarrell also won.
Southeast will play its last home match and final match of the regular season Thursday when Murray State (8-9, 5-1) visits at 2 p.m.
Three Southeast seniors will he honored Thursday: Aldana, Walker and Adrienne Bland. Bland has redshirted this year with an injury and could gain a final season of eligibility next year.
"All three seniors have worked hard this year," Southeast coach Mike Stevens said.
The OVC Tournament will be April 25 to 27 in Nashville, Tenn.
Softball visits SMS for doubleheader today
Southeast's softball squad hits the road today for a non-conference doubleheader when the Otahkians (9-21, 5-5 OVC) face Southwest Missouri State (18-19, 7-9 Missouri Valley Conference) at 2 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
The Otahkians, after losing two of three games at league rival Tennessee Tech over the weekend, are tied for third place in the OVC. They host Morehead State this weekend in a three-game conference series beginning Friday.
SMS is in sixth place in the Missouri Valley.
