The Southeast Missouri State men's basketball team will host 13 games this season and its road schedule will be highlighted by visits to Arkansas and Iowa State, according to the schedule released Tuesday.

The Redhawks will host two exhibition games before officially opening their 30-game regular season at the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Nov. 16.

UAB is one of five non-conference schools Southeast will face for the first time. Other first-time opponents will be Florida Gulf Coast, Grambling, Hannibal-LaGrange College and SMU.

Southeast will play eight of its 12 nonconference games on the road.

Nonconference opponents visiting the Show Me Center will be Grambling, Arkansas State and Hannibal-LaGrange. In addition, the Redhawks host an ESPN BracketBuster game in February against an opponent to be determined.

The Redhawks will play their first regular-season home game Nov. 22 against Grambling.

Southeast will visit Arkansas of the Southeastern Conference on Nov. 24 in Fayetteville, Ark., and will play Iowa State of the Big 12 Conference on Dec. 6 in Ames, Iowa.

Southeast also will visit regional rival Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Ill., on Dec. 8.

"We had some issues with this year's nonconference schedule, but we're happy with how things worked out," Southeast coach Dickey Nutt said in a release. "I think it's a challenging schedule that features good teams. It will prepare us for conference play and make us a better basketball team."
