Southeast Missouri State's Bass Anglers finished 13th in the recent Under Armour College Bass National Championship on the Arkansas River near North Little Rock, Ark.
Sixty teams participated in the event.
Taylor Gorton of Cape Girardeau and Mike Rains of Ellis Grove, Ill., completed the two-day tournament with a weigh-in of 9.48 pounds, just behind the University of Missouri, which weighed in with 10.13 pounds.
North Carolina State won the tournament.
Gorton is a junior biology major with an option in wildlife and conservation biology. Rains is a senior industrial education major.
The Southeast Bass Anglers sport club has enjoyed considerable success in its three-plus years of existence, being nationally ranked the past two years.
Track team garners honors
The Southeast women's track and field team has been honored for its academic success.
Southeast recently was ranked No. 58 nationally by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Redhawks had a 3.267 cumulative grade-point average.
The Redhawks were one of three teams honored from the Ohio Valley Conference, finishing ahead of Morehead State (113th, 3.100 GPA) and Austin Peay (128th, 3.037 GPA).
Tennessee-Chattanooga led the nation with a 3.550 GPA.
Football seeks film crew
The Southeast football program is looking for student volunteers, preferably with football experience, to help with video and film work during the 2009 season.
Student volunteers will be provided housing and meals throughout camp, which runs Aug. 5 through 24.
Game and practice apparel also will be issued. Student volunteers are required to work all home and away games in addition to their assigned duties over the summer.
