Southeast Missouri State University will bring two more athletic director finalists to the campus after it was announced Thursday one of the two finalists to visit this past week withdrew from consideration.

Executive vice-president Kenneth Dobbins said Paul Kowalcyzk, associate athletic director at Northwestern University, withdrew his candidacy.

Kowalcyzk visited the campus last week, meeting with coaches, administration and media. He and Dr. Terry Wanless, the director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of North Dakota, were named as the two finalists two weeks ago. Wanless visited Southeast on Wednesday.

Dobbins said the university had a pool of four finalists but elected to only bring in Kowalcyzk and Wanless for financial reasons.

"They're all very equal," said Dobbins of the finalist pool.

The university will announce the names and visiting dates of the two other finalists today.
