The Southeast Missouri State soccer team begins a three-game homestand today on the 80th anniversary of the opening of Houck Stadium.
Southeast faces Eastern Illinois in a 2 p.m. Ohio Valley Conference matchup.
Houck Stadium held its first event on Oct. 3, 1930, as Southeast played Southern Illinois in football.
In honor of Houck's 80th anniversary, limited edition Redhawks water bottles will be given to the first 80 fans today. An autograph signing by the soccer and football teams along with cake for fans will follow the contest.
The Redhawks are 5-5 overall and 1-1 in OVC play. Their most recent outing was last Sunday's 1-0 win at Austin Peay.
Eastern Illinois is 4-6-2 overall and also 1-1 in the OVC.
The Southeast volleyball team dropped OVC road matches Friday and Saturday. The Redhawks are 4-10 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
Southeast fell Saturday at Tennessee State 25-21, 21-25, 32-30, 18-25, 16-14, after a 25-13, 25-16, 25-18 loss Friday at Austin Peay.
Senior Claire Keaton led the Redhawks against Tennessee State with 21 kills.
Getting double-doubles were freshman setter Julie Shives with 52 assists and 13 digs, and freshman Andrea Baylin with 11 kills and 19 digs in her first career start.
Senior Kelly Benacka had a career-high 43 digs, senior Meagan Webb contributed 19 digs and senior Emily Hughes added 12 kills.
Sophomore Karlee Lursen led Southeast against Austin Peay with 11 kills and 10 digs. Benacka had 19 digs and Shives recorded 22 assists.
Southeast begins a three-match homestand Friday against Tennessee Tech.
