Craig Stadler, aiming for his third straight victory, shot a 65 to take the first-round lead at the Champions Tour SAS Championship.

He held a two-shot lead over defending champion D.A. Weibring and Wayne Levi at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, N.C.
