SIKESTON — After leading the Sikeston football program for three seasons, head coach Treston Pulley announced he is stepping down from the position.

“God works in mysterious ways,” Pulley said. “I am blessed to have led my alma mater for the past three years. Coaching is a true love and passion. Stepping down as the head football coach at Sikeston is the correct move for me and my family.”

Pulley, a 2011 graduate of Sikeston, became head coach in May 2021 after serving as an assistant. He was named head coach after Kyle Wagner, who the Bulldogs hired in February 2021, rescinded his contract with Sikeston and accepted the head coaching job at Lutheran North.

Pulley finished his tenure with a 6-25 overall record. He led the program to its first postseason win since 2018, a 36-14 win at Perryville this past season.

“We are so very grateful and appreciative of coach Pulley for stepping up and taking over our football program three years ago after the unexpected vacancy,” said Sikeston Assistant Superintendent Andy McGill. “He worked hard to establish the Little League Flag Football program and to help the Jaycees make improvements to their program as well. Treston Pulley is a dedicated Bulldog, and we know he will continue to do good things for student-athletes for years to come.”
