STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. — Sikeston played its heart out in what coach Wyatt Pratt described as the team’s best game of the season, but unfortunately fell short in extra innings at Ste. Genevieve.

The Bulldogs (1-8) lost the thrilling and bittersweet game 6-5 in nine innings to the Dragons (3-6) despite a valiant effort on Friday, April 7.

“That was the best game we played all year,” Pratt said. “We were tight on the field. We swung the bats well. We had great at-bats all through that game. We competed well, but it was just some minor execution things late in that game that got us beat.”

Noah Pruitt (2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run) and Joseph Heckemeyer (2-for-5 with two runs) were the Bulldogs' top producers at the plate.

Trace Sullivan started the game on the mound and threw the first four innings, allowing five runs on five hits with a strikeout and four walks.

Daeton Taylor took the loss after pitching four innings with two strikeouts and two walked batters. Taylor allowed one earned run on seven hits.

“We’re getting better,” Pratt concluded. “I’m just trying to find the right lineup and the right matchups, and it will start turning for us.”
