DEXTER, Mo. -- Drew Lawrence drew a based-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting top-seeded Sikeston past second-seeded Kennett 7-6 in the championship game of the Class 3A, District 1 baseball tournament.
Sikeston (19-2) is ranked fourth in the state while Kennett (21-3) is ranked sixth. Sikeston will play top-ranked North County in next Thursday's sectional round.
Lawrence walked on four straight pitches from Dustin Pritchett to score Blake DeWitt and end the contest.
Jamie Puckett's three-run homer with two outs in the fifth pulled Sikeston into a 6-6 tie and that's the way things stood until the 10th. Puckett was also the winning pitcher.
Pritchett homered and had four RBIs for Kennett.
