The honors just keep rolling in for Southeast Missouri State University football standout Angel Rubio.
Rubio, a defensive tackle for the Indians who completed his eligibility this year, was named on Monday to the American Football Coaches Association Division I-AA All-America team.
Rubio is the first player from Southeast to be named to the prestigious team that is selected by Division I-AA football coaches.
The Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Rubio was the only player from the OVC named to the team. Only 11 offensive, 11 defensive and four specialists are selected. There are no second-team selections.
Rubio, who last week was named to the Associated Press All-America second team, led Southeast in tackles this year with 114. He had 62 unassisted stops, 19 tackles for losses of 63 yards and seven quarterback sacks for losses of 39 yards. He also broke up a pass, had 23 quarterback hurries, recovered one fumble and forced two fumbles.
