TORONTO -- First, Daniel Alfredsson took out Darcy Tucker. Seconds later, Alfredsson took out the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Alfredsson scored with 2:01 left, lifting the Ottawa Senators to a 4-2 victory Friday night. The victory gave the Senators a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Game 6 is at Ottawa on Sunday. It's been a topsy-turvy series in which neither team has yet to win two in a row.

Alfredsson forced a turnover in the Toronto zone when he hit Tucker from behind, sending Tucker crashing into the boards. Tucker lay writhing in pain on the ice, favoring his shoulder. No penalty was called. Meanwhile, Ottawa's Yuha Ylonen centered the puck to Alfredsson from behind the net, and Alfredsson roofed a shot over goaltender Curtis Joseph.

Wilson's dismissal Friday came a month after the Capitals, who were thought to be a sure bet for the playoffs after trading for Jaromir Jagr, finished ninth in the Eastern Conference -- one spot away from a postseason berth -- with a 36-33-11-2 record.

General manager George McPhee said the players started to "tune things out" after five years under Wilson.

Wilson was hired in 1997 and went 192-159-51-8 over five seasons.

PANTHERS: Florida fired interim general manager Chuck Fletcher and replaced him with former Tampa Bay Lightning GM Rick Dudley on Friday.
