Notre Dame bowed out on the first day of action in the Class 1 MSHSAA wrestling tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in Columbia, Mo.

Senior Charlie West finished his career with a 37-4 record and a first-round pin over Ethan Stewart of Carrollton in the first round of the 215-pound bracket. He lost the next two matches to end his run.

The New Madrid duo of Caleb Moore (33-5) and Conor Henderson (30-11) finish their season with sixth-place finishes in the Class 1 MSHSAA state championships on Thursday, Feb. 22 in Columbia, Mo.

The Dexter trio of Paxton White (22-8), Ryan Young (23-16), and Kasen Forkum (16-11) see their seasons end in the Class 2 state tournament. Young managed to get a win in the consolation round before the end of his only run at state.

__Class 1 Girls State Tournament__

Sikeston’s Ellie Douglass (31-10) finished with a second-place silver medal in the Class 1 MSHSAA state tournament on Thursday, Feb. 21, in Columbia, Mo. She defeated Cecile Puati of St. Charles (38-11) by a narrow 5-4 decision to reach the 100-pound state championship bout.

Kimarhri Wilkins (40-10) finished her season in sixth place in the 140-pound weight class. She fell in the opening round by pin before winning three straight matches to secure her place on the medal stand.

Notre Dame senior Lily Ahlvin (16-9) took on three consecutive wrestlers with over 40 wins. She won a match but was eliminated in the second consolation round of the 135-point bracket on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
