NORMAL, Ill. -- Southeast Missouri State University's gymnastics team garnered three all-conference individual honors but could do no better than place third out of four squads during Saturday night's Midwest Independent Championships.

Illinois-Chicago won the meet with a score of 193.9. Then came host Illinois State with 191.2, Southeast with 190.825 and Winona State with 187.05.

The top three individuals in each event earned all-MIC honors. For Southeast, senior Erin Chenier was second in vaulting (9.775); freshman Michelle Walker was second on floor (9.725); and senior Amanda Gdovicak was third on floor (9.7).

"We did pretty well, although we had some difficulties in certain areas," said Southeast coach Kris Buchheister. "I think the highlight of the meet for us was having three all-conference performances."

Southeast still has an outside shot of qualifying for the regional meet.

"We still have a slim chance," Buchheister said. "Erin still has an outside chance to make the regionals as an all-arounder."
