The Poplar Bluff Mules were dealt two losses in less than 24 hours last weekend but Will Durden and his squad will look to bounce back this week during the SEMO Conference Boys Basketball Tournament at Sikeston High School.

Poplar Bluff will take on Jackson at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the first round with the winner advancing to take on the winner top-seeded Sikeston and the No. 8/No. 9 matchup on Thursday evening.

The Mules played in the final of the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic on Friday at Crystal City High School where they fell to Saxony Lutheran.

Poplar Bluff then regrouped and hit the court Saturday afternoon when they took on the Kankakee Kays in the Black Diamond Harley-Davidson Shootout at Marion (Ill.) High School. The Kays came away with the victory as the Mules were led by Brendan Durden’s 11 points. Mar-Lon Hickman-Roberson added 10 points as the duo were named to the All-Tournament Team in Crystal City on Friday evening.

Torrence Williams and Preston Moore each finished with eight points for the Mules.

Poplar Bluff now sits at 2-3 on the year as they take on the Indians tonight.

Jackson is 1-2 on the year with a win over Owensville in its opener of the it. Francis Borgia Turkey Tournament. The Indians are coming off of losses to Union (54-47) and Principia (44-30).
