CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- There is still a long way to go in the Ohio Valley Conference baseball season, but Southeast Missouri State University's Indians made a major statement here over the weekend.

Sunday's 12-7 romp past Austin Peay completed a Southeast sweep of the three-game road series. The Indians are 17-5 overall and 5-1 in OVC play while the Governors fell to 13-13 overall and 0-6 in the league.

Southeast, which led 11-1 at one point Sunday, outscored the Govs 26-11 in the three games as the Indians swept Saturday's doubleheader 4-1 and 10-3.

"It's very exciting for us," said Southeast coach Mark Hogan. "We pretty well dominated the weekend against a good Austin Peay ballclub."

The Indians' Darin Kinsolving hit another home run Sunday, his third in the series and his team-leading ninth of the season. Jeremy Johnson and Shane Allen also homered for Southeast, Johnson getting his fifth and Allen his fourth.

Southeast finished with 10 hits. Johnson, Allen, Kevin Meyer and Charlie Marino all had two. Allen drove in three runs while Allen and Johnson both scored three times.

Tommy Thomas (3-0) pitched the first six innings for the win, allowing five hits and one run, which was unearned. He struck out eight and walked two.

"I thought Tommy pitched a very good ballgame," Hogan said. "He's really been coming on for us."

Four Southeast hurlers followed Thomas to the mound and Austin Peay was able to score six runs -- four of them unearned -- over the final two innings.

The Indians jumped on the Govs early Sunday, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Meyer led off with a double and Marino's double chased Meyer home. Johnson followed with another double, sending Marino to third. Marino scored on an error and Johnson came home on a ground out by Allen.

Meyer's RBI single in the second made it 4-0. The Indians scored two runs without a hit in the third to go up 6-0.

It was 6-1 when Kinsolving belted a two-run homer in the fourth to make it 8-1. Allen's two-run blast in the seventh put Southeast up 10-1 and pretty much finished off the Govs.

Southeast will visit Arkansas State Wednesday in non-league action.
