Southeast Missouri State pitcher Dustin Renfrow is one of three Ohio Valley Conference baseball players recently named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award watch list.
Renfrow, a senior right-hander from West Plains, Mo., was 5-1 with a 2.46 ERA last season. His ERA ranked third in the OVC and 40th nationally.
Renfrow, a second-team all-OVC selection, struck out 48 and walked 22 in 95 innings. He started 14 games, had three complete games and two shutouts.
Eastern Kentucky junior pitcher Christian Friedrich and Jacksonville State senior outfielder Clay Whittemore join Renfrow from the OVC on the initial Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award watch list, which includes 148 players.
The Wallace Award is presented to the nation's top collegiate baseball player. The selection committee is comprised of a national panel of coaches, sports information directors, former winners and beat media who most closely follow the sport.
The watch list will expand and contract during the regular season and additional candidates may be added as the season progresses.
