KIRKWOOD -- Thoman Boothe ended SEMO Bank Cape Junior Legion's stay in the Fourth of July Tournament Saturday with an 8-7 victory.
The loss dropped SEMO Bank (35-11 overall) to 2-2 in the tournament and did not allow the Cape entry to advance out of pool play. Thoman Boothe won the pool with the victory.
Craig Ringwald suffered the loss, pitching 5 1-3 innings. He allowed six runs and 10 hits, struck out five and walked two. Gabe Wunderlich gave up four hits and two runs in the final 1 2-3 innings.
Mike Sullivan staked SEMO Bank to a 3-0 lead with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third. Thoman Boothe answered with a four-run fourth, but SEMO Bank tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Toman Boothe moved ahead for good with two runs in the sixth for a 6-4 lead. After Cape pushed a single run across in the sixth, both teams scored a pair in the seventh.
Ross Bennett collected three hits, including two doubles. Greg Craft had two hits and two RBI, Jon Livingston added two hits and an RBI and Shane Gibson finished with two hits.
SEMO Bank defeated Eureka 8-0 earlier in the day. Todd Pennington struck out 15 batters in pitching a four-hitter.
Pennington also had two hits at the plate and three RBI. Wunderlich added two hits and two RBI and Livingston and Bennett each had two hits.
SEMO Bank banged out 12 hits in each game Saturday.
SEMO Bank returns to action Monday with a 5 p.m. make-up game with Sikeston at Cape Central High School.
