The host Cape Jr. Legion team dropped both its games Friday as the SEMO Bank Jr. Legion Tournament opened in earnest.
After winning the tournament opener Thursday over Chaffee, SEMO Bank dropped a 9-6 decision to Paducah and an 11-9 loss to Christian Brothers on Friday.
Paducah finished the day with the best record in the five-team field with a 2-0 mark, also defeating Christian Brothers 9-0.
Chaffee was right behind with a 2-1 mark as it defeated Imperial 7-5 and Kirkwood 4-2.
Imperial's record is 1-1 as they bounced back from the loss to Chaffee to win a 16-14 thriller over Kirkwood.
SEMO Bank (10-9) follows with a 1-2 record and Kirkwood stands 0-2.
The teams will play two games apiece today and the top four teams will square off in Sunday's championship and third-place games.
Against Paducah, SEMO Bank's Tommy Wencewicz suffered the loss. He allowed 10 hits, walked five and struck out three. Wencewicz and Josh McIntosh each had two hits as SEMO Bank had five overall.
In the loss to Christian Brothers, Dusty Barrows registered eight RBI's for Cape. Barrows had a grand slam and three-run homer among his three hits. Joe Hamilton suffered the loss on the mound.
