ST. LOUIS -- After trailing at halftime, Jackson's girls basketball team came back to defeat Visitation 57-51 Monday in the Martin Luther King Shootout.
Jenna Leet scored a game-high 30 points for Jackson (10-3), including three 3-pointers. Leet was the only Indian to score more than six points.
Katie Dierdorf, 24 points, was the only Vivette to reach double figures in scoring. Dierdorf is the daughter of Hall of Fame football player Dan Dierdorf.
Visitation led 29-23 at halftime, but Jackson moved into the lead, 39-35, with a 16-6 scoring edge in the third quarter.
Woodland 42, Oran 32
Woodland scored a big road win as it defeated Oran in a low-scoring game.
Woodland was led by Kandice Abner with 16 and Sasha Hutson added 10.
Abner was 10 of 13 from the free-throw line.
Teresa Hodges had 14 points for Oran.
Kelly 55, Scott City 45
Kelly had three double-digit scorers as the Hawks won at home over Scott City.
The Hawks (10-4) were led by Dana Essner, who had 16 points. Kelly Essner added 11 points and Christy Kluesner had 10. Scott City was led by Rachel Spinks and Jenny Pinkston, who had 10 points apiece.
Eagle Ridge 46, Warrenton Christian 27
Rachel Carbaugh scored 17 points and went 7 of 7 from the free-throw line in Eagle Ridge's road loss Saturday night. Rachel Huebel added 11 points
Carbaugh scored 15 points in a 44-39 loss Friday at Southern Missouri Christian in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Eagle Ridge is 6-3.
Ste. Genevieve 56, St. Vincent 51
St. Vincent struggled at the free-throw line and dropped a home game.
Allison Prost led St. Vincent (6-7) with 16 points. The Squaws missed 19 free throws in the game, hitting 17 of 36 attempts.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Scott Co. Central 81, East Prairie 53
Scott County Central took a 22-7 lead after one quarter and stretched it into a first-round win in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament at Scott City.
Chris Pullen's 25 points led the fourth-seeded Braves (5-9) over fifth-seeded East Prairie (6-9). Chris Monroe added 19 and Matt Holman had 12.
In Monday's JV games, Scott County Central defeated East Prairie 70-41 and Scott City defeated Oran 62-44.
Warrenton Christian 66, Eagle Ridge 49
Daniel Ellinghouse scored 15 points, Andrew Mellies had 14 and T.J. Crowden 11 in Eagle Ridge's loss Saturday at Warrenton, Mo.
In a game Friday at Poplar Bluff, Mo., Eagle Ridge (4-7) lost 69-60 to Missouri Southern Christian. Ellinghouse scored 18, Mellies 14 and Crowden 11.
WRESTLING
Indians finish second
Jackson finished second to Raymore-Peculiar by a 376-306 margin in a 12-team tournament Saturday at St. Charles West.
Winners were Brock Howard (125 pounds) and Charles Doerge (heavyweight). Others who placed for Jackson: Dustin Fluegge (215) was second; Ben McMillian (103) and Cody Rouse (140) were third; Kramer Rampley (145) and Matt Kahle (189) were fourth; Craig Ludwig (152) was fifth; Ben Wachter (135) was sixth; and Sean Gant (112), Josh Schumacher (119), Jordan Barnhart (130), Blake Ulrich (160) and Kamden Rampley (171) were seventh.
OTHER EVENTS
Jackson's JV wrestling team won a meet at McCluer North, 288-232 over Fort Zumwalt West. Winners were Mike Rush (103 pounds), Drew Perry (125), David Sweeney (135), Garrett Huck (160), Zach Brazer (189) and Andy Glass (215); finishing second were Cory Ruch (130), Shawn Hinkebein (140), Austin Bock (145) and Jeremy Loenneke (152).
Saxony Lutheran (15-3) stretched its winning streak to 11 games with a win over Oak Ridge's junior varsity 52-31. Tim Lorenz had 20 points and Casey Petzoldt 14 for Saxony. Austin Morrison had 14 for Oak Ridge.
