CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southeast Missouri State University's indoor track and field teams competed in the Saluki Booster's Invitational Saturday in Carbondale, Ill.
The Southeast women's team finished eighth in a field of 10 teams with 30.25 points and the men placed eighth out of 11 teams with 23 points.
Mississippi State and Missouri tied for the women's title with 95 points. Georgia Tech was third with 79.
Missouri won the men's competition with 102 points, Mississippi was second with 101 and host SIU was third with 85.
Tammy Wenkel was the Otahkians' lone individual winner. Wenkel won the 600-meter run in 1:34.38.
Also for the Otahkians, Jennifer Phillips was second in the shot put, Yvonne Hente placed third in the 400, Shawna Birge was fifth in the 55-meter dash, Shannon O'Dell was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles, Jessie Donohoe was sixth in the high jump and Kim Stewart placed eighth in the 200.
Brock Alspaugh was the only Indian to win an individual event. Alspaugh won the 600-meter run in 1:23.47.
The other Indians who placed were Brian Alfultis (shot put, second), Steve Hall (55-meter hurdles, third), Jim Rhea (shot put, seventh), Scott Tate (55-meter hurdles, seventh) and Ron Wagner (5000, eighth).
