Jon Simpher allowed eight hits and walked just one in 10 innings, but Scott County's American Legion team could not could manage to score in a 2-0 loss Thursday against Sikeston at Chaffee.
Simpher struck out one and both runs were earned.
Sikeston had three hits and a sacrifice fly in the 10th to secure the win.
Rusty Hendricks and Simpher each had two hits for Scott County, which finished with eight hits.
Scott County also received six walks from Sikeston pitching.
"We left guys on, but it was always with two outs," Scott County coach Tom Dirnberger said. "We could never get a rally going with less than two outs."
Scott County will host Cape Girardeau in a doubleheader set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Notre Dame.
The Cape Girardeau American Legion junior team lost 11-1 to top-seeded Sikeston on Thursday in the District 14 tournament.
Sikeston, the tournament host, will play the winner of the Twin Rivers/Dunklin County game in the winner's bracket final of the double-elimination event.
Cape Girardeau will play Jackson at 5 p.m. today in the elimination bracket.
Dylan Schweer took the loss Thursday, allowing seven runs -- five earned -- in 3 1/3 innings. He gave up five hits and six walks.
For Cape, Alex Shell was 2-for-2 with a run scored.
