SIKESTON — The Scott County Central softball team staged an incredible comeback to claim a thrilling 13-9 victory over Meridian on Wednesday, April 19.

The Bravettes (7-8) trailed 9-3 midway through the game, but refused to give up and slowly chipped away at the lead with a combination of clutch hitting, smart base running and resilient defense.

“Being down 9-3 is never a good thing,” said SCC coach Tim Carlisle. “The girls battled through a lot of adversity today. We were able to switch our approach at the plate and take advantage of some errors.”

Brianna Seiler (1-for-3 with a RBI), Brookelyn Sauceda (1-for-3 with two runs scored) and Kierstin Banks (1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored) were the team’s top players at the plate.

Maddy Carlisle earned the win on the mound after six innings of work. She didn’t allow any earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and four walked batter.
