CHARLESTON, Mo. — The Scott County Central softball team showcased its potential in a lop-sided win at Charleston and is taking steps toward establishing a strong program.

The Bravettes (5-6) won 23-12 in six innings over the Lady Bluejays at Hillhouse Park on Wednesday, April 12.

“It definitely wasn’t a pretty win,” said SCC coach Tim Carlisle. “But the girls pulled through to find a way.”

Brianna Seiler was SCC’s top player at the plate. She finished with three hits, including a double, with three RBIs and scored two runs.

Khloe Tolle, Maddy Carlisle, Brookelyn Sauceda, Briley Couch, Allie Foster and Mikylia Daniel each added one hit.

Tolle earned the win after 4.1 innings. She allowed four earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Carlisle pitched the final 1.2 innings and allowed one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts.

SCC also split a doubleheader with Twin Rivers (4-3) and Richland on Tuesday, April 12.

The Bravettes won 15-0 in four innings over the Lady Rebels and fell 14-3 to the Lady Royals.

The team’s top offensive producers against Richland were Tolle (3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored) and Kyla Pearson (2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored).

Maddy Carlisle, Sauceda and Foster each had one hit, while Sauceda and Couch added two RBIs each.

Maddy Carlisle earned the win after a four-inning, no-hitter. She finished with three strikeouts and no walked batters.

“The game against Richland the girls played well all around,” coach Carlisle said. “We were able to hit the ball and make plays defensively. Maddy Carlisle pitched a great game.”

The team's top player at the plate against Twin Rivers was Kierstin Banks (2-for-3 and scored a run).

Tolle also had a hit, while Seiler and Easter each had an RBI.

Tolle took the loss after 5.1 innings. She gave up 10 earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and five walks. Maddy Carlisle recorded the final two outs and didn’t allow any runs on one hit with a walk.

“The second game we got behind early,” coach Carlisle said. “But we battled to the sixth inning and Twin Rivers was able to break it open. They had timely hits. Brianna Seiler caught another excellent game for us.

“I’m just happy we are getting to play games,” he continued. “All the girls are starting to figure things out and the more we play the more they learn the game.”

SCC will compete in the Oak Ridge Invitational, beginning Thursday, April 13 against Oak Ridge (2-2). The team will face Arcadia Valley (4-5) on Friday, April 14, and Delta (1-4) on Saturday, April 15.
