Scott City won the six-team SEMO Conference volleyball tournament, beating Cape Girardeau Central 25-23, 25-18 in Wednesday night's finals in Chaffee.

Earlier Wednesday, in the semifinals, Scott City beat Sikeston 25-16, 21-25, 16-14 while Central defeated Oran 25-15, 25-18.

In the title match, Scott City (4-0-2) was led by Kacie Cartwright with five kills and five digs. Samantha Raines had seven assists, Emily Miller had six assists and Jessica Warren added seven digs.

Against Sikeston, Cartwright had 10 kills and eight digs while Ashton Phillips recorded 11 aces, 18 points and nine digs.

Central (1-3-2) got 16 digs from Andrea Niswonger and eight assists from Kaci Pletcher in the final. In the semifinal, Niswonger had nine assists, Jessica Johnston and Amy Bickings both had six kills, and Chelsey Oliver and Erica McDowell each served three aces.

SOFTBALL

Central 8, Poplar Bluff 0

Megan McDonald pitched a two-hit shutout, with nine strikeouts and three walks, and Central had 15 hits during a road victory.

Shana Wadlington went 4-for-4 to lead the Tigers (7-4). Megan Kistner doubled twice and had three RBIs.

Delta 14, Twin Rivers 2

Delta scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to rout visiting Twin Rivers in five innings.

Kaci Menz led Delta (2-0) with two hits and four RBIs. The Bobcats had five hits overall.

Tiffany Johnson struck out five, walked six and allowed one hit.

TENNIS

Charleston 6, Jackson 3

Jackson (0-5) remained winless while Charleston (4-0) stayed undefeated.

Kelly Mitchell and Shannon Cobb posted singles victories for the Indians while the doubles team of Mitchell and Sarah Hinkebein also prevailed.

Charleston 5, Central 4

Charleston handed Central (2-1) its first loss with a Tuesday victory.
