Scott City softball shuts out Dragons

Emily Essner went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI double to help lead Scott City past host Ste. Genevieve 2-0 in softball action Monday.

Essner also pitched seven innings, striking out eight batters. Macy Heisserer went 2-for-3 and added a double for the Rams (4-8).

Notre Dame pushed its record to 8-0 with help from Lauren Reinagel, who earned the win on the mound.

Reinagel also added a triple while going 2-for-3. Erica Reinagel went 2-for-4 with a triple and Alexis Ralls went 2-for-4 with a double to help the Bulldogs.

Taylor Kirn led the Tigers (9-5-2) with eight digs while Carissa Wheeler added six digs.

Wendi Zickfield chipped in 11 kills and Katie Scholl added 19 assists.
