HAYTI -- Scott City High's football team continued its strong season here Friday night as the Rams routed struggling Hayti 53-0.
The Rams, now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in SEMO South Division play, scored 26 first-quarter points and never looked back. The Indians fell to 1-6, with the only victory coming on a forfeit.
Matt Underwood scored three touchdowns, on runs of 7, 19 and 9 yards, to lead the Rams.
Travis Burger scored on runs of 3 and 1 yard, Howie Stubenrauch had an 18-yard TD, John Wipfler scored on a 13-yard fumble return and Steven Thomas hauled in a 16-yard TD pass from Lance Amick.
Stubenrauch's 18-yard TD early in the game got the Rams going. Underwood had two touchdowns and Thomas one later in the period as the rout was on. It was 33-0 at halftime.
Scott City will open district play next Friday at home against Portageville.
Perryville 27, Festus 0
FESTUS -- Perryville picked up an easy Jefferson County Conference Large Division win at home Friday night.
Kyle Yamnitz scored on runs of 28 and 3 yards while Ben Kohm added touchdowns of 2 and 42 yards.
The Pirates led 20-0 at halftime and coasted in the second half.
Perryville will begin district play next Friday by hosting North County.
VOLLEYBALL
Meadow Heights Tournament
PATTON -- Bell City and Leopold, both having impressive high school volleyball seasons, will square off at 7 tonight for the championship of the Meadow Heights Tournament.
Host Meadow Heights and Zalma will play at 6 tonight for third place, with Notre Dame taking on Oak Ridge at 5 for the consolation title.
Pool play concluded Friday with the following results: Leopold over Marquand 15-2, 15-1; Leopold over Meadow Heights 15-6, 16-14; Meadow Heights over Oak Ridge 15-2, 15-1; and Oak Ridge over Marquand 15-1, 15-8.
Bell City, last year's Class 1A state champion, has a 23-1-1 record this year while Leopold is 19-2-1.
