Second-seeded Scott City advanced to the semifinals of the Class 3 District 1 boys basketball tournament with a 70-55 victory Monday night over No. 7 Kennett at New Madrid, Mo.
Alex King scored 22 points to lead five Scott City players in double figures. Jay Simmons and Rynn Eskew both added 13 points, while Caleb Estes netted 12 points and Jamie Pinkston scored 10.
The Rams will play No. 3 Portageville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Portageville disposed of No. 6 New Madrid County Central 60-51.
Top-seeded Charleston and No. 4 East Prairie will meet in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. Charleston routed No. 8 Caruthersville 114-38, while East Prairie ended the season for No. 5 Kelly 73-67.
Spencer Ayers scored 23 points for Kelly in the loss. Teammate Dallas Tew added 13 points and Zach Hamm finished with 10. Randy Woods paced East Prairie with 22 points.

Third-seeded Oran hit on 26 of 30 free throws en route to a 70-44 victory over No. 6 Gideon. Kody Campbell led the Eages with 17 points. Chasey Seyer netted 14 points and Steven Mock added 11. Oran will face No. 2 Clarkton, an 85-57 winner over No. 7 Risco, today at 8 p.m.
