Scott County Central competed in the fall softball season for the first time last year, and the team hopes the skills and experience gained will pay dividends this spring.

The Bravettes finished 1-9 last spring and 0-18 in the spring, but the team was competitive in several tough losses and is likely on the cusp of breaking through.

“Our only expectation is to stick to our mission and that is to get better everyday,” said SCC coach Tim Carlisle. “During our fall season that is just what we did, and it started to show, even though the wins were not there. The girls love the game and are excited to get back out there on the field.”

Team leaders are expected to be juniors Madalynn Carlisle, Brianna Seiler and sophomore Brookelyn Sauceda. Carlisle and Seiler earned all-district honors last season, while Sauceda was an honorable mention selection.

“Although we will lean a lot on these three we have girls that are really starting to figure out the game,” said Carlisle.

“it provided a ton of experience for her,” Carlisle added.

Seniors Kiersten Banks, Kyla Pearson and Lamija Warren are also expected to contribute.

“[Banks] and [Pearson] have been around the program for some time,” Carlisle said. “So they know what we are expecting of them and the team as a whole.  Their leadership and communication with the team will be key.”

The Bravettes will host the SCC Robin Round on Saturday, March 18 to start the season. SCC will play South Pemiscot and Charleston.
