SIKESTON — The Scott County Central softball continues to show some major signs of improvement and won 9-2 over Caruthersville on Tuesday, April 4.
Khloe Tolle had a strong performance on the mound and Maddy Carlisle and Briley Couch each had multiple hits during Bravettes’ (3-4) victory over the Lady Tigers (0-3).
“We played good fundamental team softball,” said SCC coach Tim Carlisle. “The girls have been working hard and it’s starting to pay off. Khloe Tolle pitched one of her best games yet. Brianna Seiler caught the best game of this season as well. As a team, we were able to put the bat on the ball.”
Caruthersville opened the game with two runs in the top of the first inning but Scott County Central answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and two more runs in the second inning to take a 5-2. advantage.
The Bravettes added four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Carlisle had two doubles and scored a run; Couch had two singles, four RBIs and scored a run; and Tolle, Seiler, Brooke Sauceda, Kyla Pearson and Kierstin Banks each had one hit, while Makinna Easter and Banks each had an RBI.
Hailey McCloud took the loss after throwing all six innings. She allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and two walked batters.
Caruthersville hosts Holcomb (7-3) on Thursday, April 6, while SCC will host Advance with Bell City (5-2) on Monday, April 10.
