SIKESTON — The Sikeston soccer team saw its three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Saxony Lutheran at the Sports Complex on Monday, September 18.

The Crusaders (6-4) employed an effective game plan that proved both frustrating and defeating for the Bulldogs (5-6), resulting in a 4-1 victory.

“We game-planned but didn’t execute well,” said Sikeston coach Gabe Dement. “We just didn’t have it tonight and they had something to do with that. We have faith in the guys and know we can do better. We don’t have much time to dwell on this as we head to an extremely tough Poplar Bluff squad on Thursday. It will be a very difficult match, but we know if we play well we can compete. We didn’t pass well in moments where easy passes were available and that’s something we will work on leading up to the Mules.”

Sikeston’s Tristan Wiggins scored the team’s lone goal on an assist by Carter Grimes.

The junior varsity match ended in a 1-1 tie, with the Bulldogs’ Asher Alcorn scoring on a penalty kick.

Sikeston travels to Poplar Bluff (5-2-1) on Thursday, September 21.
