BRENTWOOD (0-3) AT SCOTT CITY (0-3)

Last week: East Prairie 34, Scott City 14 (Brad Glenn carried the ball 24 times for 157 yards); Westminster 28, Brentwood 12 (Brentwood's Gary Willis had 209 rushing yards.)

Last year: Scott City 48, Brentwood 13

Comments: "Their line is really big," Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien said. "They probably average about 260 pounds. They got a couple good-sized backs too and they're just going to line up and try to run over you. I know their record isn't real good, but they're not a bad ballclub. ... We had a lot of negativity first couple weeks and we're overcoming that. We're trying to focus on not turning the ball over. Last week, the only people who stopped us offensively was ourselves."

Notes: Brentwood suffered blowout losses to 2A power North Callaway and 1A power St. Vincent. Scott City turned the ball over five times last week. O'Brien said he has moved some players around this week to get better quickness on the defensive line.

GRANDVIEW (0-3) AT ST. VINCENT (2-1), 7 P.M.

Last week: St. Vincent 18, Lutheran South 7; Lutheran St. Charles 57, Grandview 6

Last year: St. Vincent 65, Grandview 12

Comments: "I think Grandview is a lot tougher than they were last year," St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler said. "They've lost some games, but they kind of scare me. ... Our offensive line is coming together and starting to gel. They're getting assignments down better and talking to each other better. And they're finishing off blocks."

Notes: Grandview has been outscored 99-14.

PERRYVILLE (0-3) AT DE SOTO (1-2), 7 P.M.

Last week: Jackson 42, Perryville 0 (Pirates managed only 19 rushing yards); De Soto 32, Potosi 16

Last year: De Soto 35, Perryville 0

Comments: "They throw the ball a lot," Perryville coach Lance Bell said of De Soto. "They've got a good skill group. We're going to have to get a good pass rush and cover our butts off. On defense, they run a 4-4, the same defense we run so I think we'll be able to block it if we execute. I think we can run on them."

Notes: Herculaneum handed De Soto a 58-6 loss in Week 2. De Soto has passed for 364 yards this year and has rushed for 335.

CHARLESTON (2-1) AT NEW MADRID (3-0)

Last week: Charleston 32, Caruthersville 0 (Jordy Mixon rushed for 235 yards on 18 carries); New Madrid 28, Farmington 13

Last year: New Madrid 40, Charleston 0

Comments: "We've got to tackle," said Charleston coach Brent Anderson. "If we do that, everything gets easier. They're slick and can run, but we feel we've got some athletes also. We can run a little bit, too."

Notes: NMCC is ranked sixth in Class 3A. Mixon has 565 yards this season, the most in Southeast Missouri. NMCC running back Dereke Tipler has 331 yards in three games.

POTOSI (1-2) AT FREDERICKTOWN (1-2), 7 P.M.

Last week: Festus 42, Fredericktown 14

Last year: Fredericktown 28, Potosi 8

Comments: "They're better than they were last year and we're not quite as good," Fredericktown coach Kent Gibbs said. "They run the ball real well with their fullback."

Saturday CHAFFEE (1-2) AT PORTAGEVILLE (2-1), 3 P.M. LAST WEEK: PIGGOTT, ARK. 34, CHAFFEE 13 (JEREMY HAHN HAD 147 YARDS RUSHING); PORTAGEVILLE 43, FULTON, KY. 2

Last year: Chaffee 19, Portageville 0

Comments: "Watching them on film, they're fundamentally sound again," Chaffee coach Allan Horrell said. "Coach Jim McKay has done a good job. We'll have to play a fundamentally sound game to beat them. It comes down to two things: blocking and tackling."

Notes: Hahn, only 5-foot-7, 146 pounds, has 469 yards on 83 carries and has seemingly come out of nowhere. "Our line has done a tremendous job and Jeremy is quick to the hole," Horrell said. "He's run in the shadows of Tommy Stidham and G.P. Glueck. He's a senior now and he's making the most of it. We didn't expect this type of production."
