Former Southeast Missouri State baseball star Kerry Robinson has changed organizations again.

The Boston Red Sox announced Wednesday that Robinson has agreed to terms on a minor league contract as he hopes to land a spot on the club's major league roster.

Robinson has played for nine organizations -- some more than once -- during a professional career that started in 1995.

The 33-year-old Robinson, an outfielder, was with Kansas City last year as he spent a few weeks with the Royals but most of the season at Class AAA Omaha.

Robinson hit .266 in 64 at-bats for Kansas City last season and hit .311 in 396 at-bats for Omaha.

Robinson has a career major league average of .267 in 735 at-bats over parts of seven seasons. His career minor league average is .313.

Robinson, a St. Louis native, received his most extensive major league playing time with his hometown team from 2001 through 2003.

Originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 34th round in 1995, Robinson received at least 181 at-bats in each of the three years he spent with the Cardinals. He was traded to San Diego following the 2003 season.
