HARRISBURG, Ill. -- The Cape Girardeau Riverdogs fell to 1-2 as they suffered an 8-6 loss at the hands of host Saline County (Ill.) Monday night.

The Riverdogs, a baseball team made up of college-age players, trailed 7-3 after three innings and then staged a rally before coming up short.

Steve Fowler pitched all eight innings to take the loss. He allowed 14 hits and six earned runs while striking out four and walking one.

The Riverdogs had 11 hits, led by Fowler, Chris Bradshaw and Jon Carenza with two each. Bradshaw drove in three runs while Carenza had two RBIs. Brandon Talbot scored three times.

Cape will pay another visit to Saline County tonight.
