Ball State associate head coach Rekha Patterson was hired as Southeast Missouri State's eighth women's basketball coach in program history, the athletic department announced Wednesday morning.
Patterson had been on the Cardinals' staff for the past two years. Ball State reached the Mid-American Conference tournament championship in her first season and advanced to the Women's National Invitational Tournament both years.
Prior to that she spent five seasons working with Kim Mulkey at Baylor.
She was an associate coach for her final two seasons with the Bears, during which they went 74-2, including a 40-0 season en route to winning the NCAA National Championship in 2012.
Patterson has also worked at Eastern Illinois and Creighton.
She agreed to a four-year contract and will earn a base salary of $94,000 with a $10,000 annuity. Final details of the contract are still to be determined.
A press conference to formally introduce Patterson was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
