The Southeast Missouri State softball team had a big day Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader from visiting IUPUI.

Southeast posted a 15-7, six-inning run-rule win in the opener, then pulled out a 5-4 victory in eight innings. The Redhawks are 8-11 while the Jaguars fell to 3-10.

The Redhawks had 10 hits in the opener, led by Renee Kertz. She had a grand slam and triple, good for six RBIs.

Nicole Troncoso had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Alex Ramirez, Carmen Fowler and HaLeigh Willis all added two hits.

Stefanie Barnes pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief for the win. She allowed four hits and one run.

In the nightcap, Shelby Stein's walk-off single in the eighth inning capped a two-run rally by the Redhawks.

Southeast had nine more hits, including homers by Fowler and Elise Sperakos.

Troncoso had three hits, giving her five on the day. Sperakos added two hits. Fowler had two RBIs, giving her four in the twin bill.

Whitney Dupuis notched the victory, pitching all eight innings. She allowed nine hits and only one earned run.

Southeast visits Indiana State today for a doubleheader before opening OVC play Saturday with a home doubleheader against Morehead State.
