The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team suffered its fifth straight loss Tuesday night.
Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, a first-year Division I program and a future Ohio Valley Conference member, beat host Southeast 20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-21.
Southeast (7-11) was led by Claire Keaton with 15 kills. Aubrey Dondlinger had a double-double with 12 kills and 22 digs.
Molly Davis recorded 17 digs for the Redhawks and Sarah Barth dished out 39 assists.
SIU-E (8-10) received 14 kills from Sydney Winslow. Mallory Clements had 45 assists and Emily Rahn added 15 digs.
Southeast, fifth in the 10-team OVC at 5-5, resumes league play Friday at first-place Morehead State. The Redhawks visit eighth-place Eastern Kentucky on Saturday.
Kraft nabs OVC honor
Southeast senior soccer player Casey Kraft has been named the OVC offensive player of the week.
Kraft scored both goals during Friday's 2-0 victory at Austin Peay as the Redhawks notched their first OVC win of the season.
The Redhawks (2-8-3, 1-4-2) are tied for eighth place in the nine-team OVC. They close out the regular season Sunday at Eastern Illinois.
Southeast, the two-time defending OVC tournament champion, needs to win Sunday and have several other squads lose this weekend in order to make the six-team conference tournament.
Baseball series ends today
The fifth and final game of the Steak & Beans World Series -- which concludes Southeast's fall baseball workouts -- will be today at 4 p.m. at Capaha Field.
The series, which was shortened from a best-of-seven to a best-of-five due to weather concerns, is tied 2-2.
