After scoring 25 runs in winning its first three games, the Southeast Missouri State softball team scored a total of two runs in a pair of losses Sunday as it concluded play in the Mardi Gras tournament in Monroe, La.

After collecting only three hits in an 8-1 loss to Iowa State, Southeast managed just four hits in a 2-1 loss to host Louisiana-Monroe.

Against Louisiana-Monroe, Southeast (2-3) scored its only run and managed half its hits in a seventh-inning rally that fell short. Alex Ramirez had a double in the inning and scored the run. Southeast had the potential tying run at third base with one out, but winning pitcher Kandace Causey struck out Whitney Dupuis and got Michelle Summers to pop out.

ULM scored two first-inning runs off losing pitcher Dupuis, who pitched all six innings. She allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one.

Redhawks ace Elaine Fisher took the loss against Iowa State. She gave up six hits and seven runs in five inning, and her cause was not helped by five Southeast errors.

Summers, who went 3-for-6 on the day, also had a double against Cyclones pitcher Charissa Carlin.
