The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team saw its hopes of winning the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship end Friday night.
Southeast lost 2-0 at Jacksonville State, while Samford clinched its fourth straight OVC regular-season title by beating Eastern Illinois.
The Redhawks (7-7-1, 4-3-1) fell into a third-place tie with Eastern Illinois. Southeast may have to win its final league game --Sunday at Samford -- in order to host a first-round game in the OVC tournament.
The top six finishers in the OVC qualify for the conference tournament, with the top two earning first-round byes. The remaining four teams play first-round games. Southeast can still finish as high as second to earn a bye, but the Redhawks will need some help.
Jacksonville State (5-11-2, 3-4-1) scored a goal in each half Friday and beat Southeast despite being outshot by the Redhawks 16-7.
OVC leader Jacksonville State made short work of host Southeast Friday night, rolling to a 30-18, 30-22, 30-13 victory at Houck Field House.
The Redhawks (10-13, 4-5) were led by Jessica Koeper with eight kills and 14 digs. Sarah Barth had 20 assists and Molly Davis added 13 digs.
The Gamecocks (15-4, 9-0) received 13 kills from Abbey Breit.
