Two Southeast Missouri State soccer players have been recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference for their performances over the weekend.

Freshman Christina Rohde and senior Ashton Aubuchon were named OVC defensive player of the week and goalkeeper of the week, respectively, on Tuesday.

Rohde, who earned the award for the second time this season, played every second on the field during home wins against OVC foes Belmont and Tennessee Tech for a Redhawks' defense that allowed only one goal and 15 total shots.

She also contributed offensively by picking up the secondary assist on the game-winning overtime goal in Friday's 2-1 victory over Belmont.

Aubuchon closed in on the school record for career saves. She stopped six of the seven shots over the weekend and also had a rare goalkeeper assist Friday.

Aubuchon's recorded her 20th career shutout in a 1-0 win over Tennessee Tech on Sunday, which ranks second all-time at Southeast. She has 227 career saves, one short of current Southeast assistant Lindsay Pickering's school record.

The Redhawks host SIU Edwardsville at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Eastern Illinois at 1 p.m. Sunday in their final two regular-season home matches.

Southeast will celebrate senior night Friday as the team's four seniors -- Aubuchon, Jacey Boyko, Stephanie Palmer and Amy Ward -- will be recognized.

Cross country

Southeast junior Rebekah Lawson has been named the OVC female runner of the week for cross country, the second time she has won the award this season.

Lawson led Southeast with a ninth-place finish among a field of 238 runners at Friday's Bradley Classic. Her 21 minutes, 20 second 6K time is the fastest 6K women's time in the OVC this year.

Lawson has led the Redhawks in every race this season, including winning the first two races.

"Rebekah is starting to run extremely well at the perfect time," Southeast coach Ryan Lane said in a release. "I cannot wait to see her performance at the conference championship and in regionals in the coming weeks."

Southeast next competes in the OVC Championships Nov. 2 in Morehead, Ky.
