The Southeast Missouri State men's cross country team started its season on the right foot Saturday by winning the Stegemoller Classic at Southern Indiana.
Senior Brandon Karcher was the top collegiate finisher to lead the Redhawks. He covered the 6,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 45 seconds.
Freshman Nate Shipley finished fourth (18:50), while junior Dustin Davis was fifth (18:52). Sophomore Chris Loseman was ninth (18:59) and sophomore Jason Lumpkin 13th (19:06).
The Southeast women's team finished third. Junior Linnea Woldtvedt, a Central graduate, led the Redhawks with a third-place finish (14:59) on the 4-kilometer course.
Monica Noble was 12th (15:39).
Volleyball
The Redhawks went 0-2 to close out the Blue Raider Bash.
Southeast lost to Middle Tennessee State 3-0 then fell to Idaho 3-1.
Karleigh DeLong led Southeast with 10 kills against Middle Tennessee. Sarah Barth had 18 assists, and Aubrey Dondlinger finished with seven kills and six digs.
Game scores were 25-14, 25-21, 25-20.
DeLong recorded a team-high 13 kills against Idaho, while Claire Keaton added 11.
Barth led the Redhawks with 27 assists, and Molly Davis had 14 digs.
Game scores were 25-21, 25-16, 20-25, 25-16.
