A six-game Ohio Valley Conference winning streak has now become a three-game losing streak for Southeast Missouri State's softball team after dropping a doubleheader at Eastern Illinois on Wednesday.
Southeast dropped to 22-19 overall and 10-7 in the OVC. Eastern Illinois improved to 11-23 overall and 8-9 in the OVC.
The Redhawks surrendered two runs in the bottom of the 12th in the opener in a 7-6 loss. Stephanie Huffman took the loss after allowing four runs, one earned, in four innings.
Michelle Summers had three hits and two RBIs in the opener. Lyndsay Webb and Lindsay Pickering had two hits apiece.
In the second game, Southeast once again could not hold a lead in the final frame, allowing four runs in the seventh to fall 4-1. The Panthers tied the game with a leadoff home run in the seventh, then had a three-run home run with two outs to end the game.
Summers picked up two more hits in the second game, and Stephanie Mata added two hits.
Amy Fahnestock took the loss after Elaine Fisher pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
Southeast will host a three-game series with OVC foe Tennessee Tech starting Saturday.
