The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team suffered its second consecutive dual-meet loss to begin the season, falling at Illinois State 192.200-186.775 on Saturday night.
The Redhawks got off on the wrong foot in the first rotation with a shorthanded bars lineup that had only five competitors.
Three of Southeast's five bars entrants fell in their routines. The Redhawks finished with a 44.675, while ISU scored 48.375 on vault to open up a lead of nearly four points after one rotation.
"This wasn't the performance that we expected tonight." Southeast coach Kristi Ewasko said. "However, we have an opportunity ahead of us with two weeks of practice to get ready for our next meet. We look forward to improving with all the training time ahead of us."
Southeast did win two of the four individual events.
Megan Fosnow tied for first on vault with a score of 9.800.
Emma Garrett was first on floor (9.750) and finished third on vault (9.750).
