The Southeast Missouri State soccer team closed its exhibition schedule Sunday with a 1-1 tie against Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark.
Each team scored on unassisted plays in the opening 15 minutes of the game. Markie McRae put the Indians ahead 1-0 at the 9:55 mark. Southeast countered with a goal by Courtney Alexander at the 12:30 mark, as she beat ASU goalkeeper Brielan Smiechowski.
Southeast had a 15-8 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Redhawks goalkeeper Lindsey Pickering made three saves, while Smiechowski and Kelly Goodman combined for four saves for ASU.
Southeast, 1-0-1 in exhibition play, will open its regular season at home on Friday when Northwestern State visits Houck Stadium for a 7 p.m. game.
