MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Pitching and Memphis University finally ruled in the finale of a three-game baseball series Sunday with Southeast Missouri State.

Memphis pitchers Ryan Holland and Garrett Hachtel combined for a six-hitter and nine strikeouts as the Tigers salvaged a victory in the series with a 2-0 win.

The teams had combined for 28 runs over the first two games of the series, with Southeast (6-6) having won 9-8 and 6-5.

Holland, a freshman, allowed five hits over the first seven innings en route to his first collegiate victory. Hachtel provided one-hit relief over the final two innings for the save.

Designated hitter Nick Harris accounted for two of the hits for Southeast (6-6), which was shut out for the first time this season. All six of the Redhawks hits were singles.

Memphis (7-10) collected nine hits off Southeast starter Josh Syberg, who pitched a complete game. Syberg struck out three, did not walk a batter and allowed one earned run.

Memphis leadoff batter K.K. Chalmers, who had two hits and a stolen base, scored both of the Tigers' runs. Chalmers singled and scored in both the first and eighth innings. Chalmers scored on an RBI ground out in the first and on a single in the eighth by Memphis No. 4 hitter Trey Wiedman, who also had a pair of hits.

Sunday's game was played in a crisp 2 hours and 24 minutes, a stark contrast to Friday's 14-inning series opener that lasted 4 hours, 50 minutes.

Southeast returns to action Wednesday, when Southern Illinois-Edwardsville visits Capaha Field for a 6 p.m. game.
