Southeast Missouri State's softball fellow below .500 with a pair of losses at Southern Illinois on Tuesday.

The Redhawks fell 8-4 and 4-0 to the Salukis to fall to 4-6.

In the opener Southeast managed just one hit off Salukis starter Cassidy Scoggins. Scoggins struck out 10 and did not walk a batter in seven innings.

Elaine Fisher took the loss for Southeast. Fisher allowed six hits, four earned runs, walked two and struck out five in six innings.

In the second game the Redhawks jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings. Southern Illinois (12-1) tied the game at 4-4 with three runs in the third, and a four-run fifth secured the sweep for the Salukis.

Fisher took the loss again, allowing four runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief. Stephanie Huffman, the Redhawks starter, allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Michelle Summers had two of Southeast's five hits, including a home run. Jenn Monaghan, who had the lone hit in the opening loss, added a home run and two RBIs.
